Using organic shapes, the artist tries to show the relationship of all life forms to another as nature’s rhythms and movements are never still, always changing. Influenced by the Cycle of Life found in Native American culture, the artist hopes her work will have a spiritual element and that anyone looking at her work can be transported to another level-to feel the piece and have an emotional response to it. The artist uses a palette of earth tones and muted blues, that sometimes explode into vibrant reds and yellows for a distant sunset. The artist works in oil paint on canvas, panel or constructed forms.
Some of her latest works are paintings on constructed forms, sometimes boxes that open revealing 3 dimensional forms inside. The artist enjoys using different shapes for her paintings. Recently she completed a Triptych painted on all sides so that the observer can see how one shape connects to another.
The artist has a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from the Moore College of Art and a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Education from Boston University. She has studied with Iso Papo at Pine Manor College and has taken graduate painting classes at The Art Institute of Boston. Her work is in many collections. Her gallery affiliations are: Carol Craven Gallery, Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, Jensen Fine Arts in Brookline Massachusetts and The Providence Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona. She is an Art Member of The Old Sculpin Gallery in Edgartown, Massachusetts and an Associate Art Member of The Copley Society in Boston, Massachusetts. She is on the Advisory Board of Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs Massachusetts.
